Eat To Get Fit

Most people are surprised to learn that while cardio and weight training are important for fitness, good nutrition and eating habits are the most critical factors, constituting 80% of the equation. The reactions I get when I suggest eating to shed weight are quite something! But let me explain why crash diets don’t work, leaving millions struggling to lose and maintain weight.

People are increasingly out of shape and overweight due to today’s quick-fix diets. The culprit here is the word “diet.” Do yourself a favor and remove it from your vocabulary. Instead, consider adopting an efficient eating plan—a strategic program encompassing all crucial aspects of proper nutrition in perfect balance.

Your goal should be to consume the necessary nutrients  your body needs while ensuring adequate intake of carbohydrates, lean proteins, fats, and water. These elements are vital for achieving your weight loss and body transformation objectives. Forget the outdated myth of three meals a day; it’s challenging to attain the required calorie and nutrient intake this way. If you genuinely want to lose weight, aim for five to six smaller meals daily. Eating only three meals a day turns you into a fat-storage machine rather than a fat-burning one.

Proper nutrition matters for four key reasons: (1) it boosts your metabolism, preventing your body from entering starvation mode, (2) it provides the energy needed for daily activities, (3) it maintains or increases muscle mass for shaping, toning, and building the body up. (4) it supplies essential nutrients for survival. Your eating habits can either make or break your body transformation goals.

I pose these crucial questions to my clients every day: Did you have breakfast? Did you consume protein? Did you have good carbs, do you have good energy to exercise today? Ideally, the answer should be “yes” to all these questions. A positive response indicates effective implementation of their eating plan for weight loss, control, and body transformation.

Remember, good nutrition is the cornerstone of good health. Everyone requires the five essential nutrients: water, carbohydrates, proteins, fats, vitamins, and minerals. To make informed food choices, you must have a clear understanding of the components of a healthy diet.
