Most people are surprised to learn that while cardio and weight training are important aspects of keeping fit and losing weight, good nutrition is by far the most important factor, accounting for 80% of the equation.

You should see the reactions people give, when I say they should eat their weight off. I explain to them how starvation diets don’t work and why they and millions of other people are still struggling to lose weight and keep it off.

People are out of shape and more fat than ever because of today’s quick-fix diets. The key word is diet: do yourself a favor and eliminate this word from your vocabulary. Instead, consider initiating an efficient eating plan. An eating plan gives you a strategic program created to implement all the important aspects of proper nutrition with complete balance.

It is important to consume only the necessary caloric intake your body needs while receiving adequate amounts of carbohydrates, lean proteins, fats, and water. These nutrients are very important in attaining your weight loss and body change goals.

This is why one meal a day is not great for losing weight. It is very difficult to consume the calories and nutrients needed for successful weight control by eating only one meal a day. If you really want to lose weight, you must consume three to five meals daily.

Calorie-restricted diets are proven to make you a fat-storing machine rather than a fat-burning machine. There are four reasons why eating is important: (1) it increases your metabolism by preventing your body from going into starvation mode, (2) it gives your body the energy required to perform daily activities, (3) it maintains or increases muscle mass to help shape and tone and (4) it gives your body the necessary nutrients to survive.

Eating can make or break your chances of changing your body. Every day I ask myself these important questions to my clients: Did you eat breakfast today? How many meals did you eat today? Did you eat protein? How is your energy today? Ideally, the answer should be yes to all these questions. This is a positive indicator as to how well they are implementing their eating plan to change their bodies.

Eating great nutritional balance is the foundation of good health. Everyone needs the six nutrients water, carbohydrates, proteins, fats, vitamins & minerals. To be able to choose the proper foods, you need to have a clear idea of the components of a healthy diet.
